Beyond Basic Meat and Cheese: How to Craft Deliciously Varied Works of Art
July 18, 2020
Curate beautiful boards for breakfast and weeknight dinners. Ideal for ages 6-12.
Julia Child once said, “No one is born a great cook, we learn by doing.” Sarah Redmond, mother of three, a former teacher and now Innkeeper at the Inns of St. Albans, recalls how much this was modeled growing up. Her mom, Brenda Dwyer, a retired food service director and caterer, always encouraged Sarah and her younger sister, Marie, to cook and be creative in the kitchen. Today, Sarah has passed this knowledge and creativity down to her kids who routinely enjoy cooking and helping with meal prep. For this class, Sarah and Brenda have paired together to reveal their expert tips, tricks and techniques for curating beautiful and delicious boards for breakfast and weeknight dinners! They will look past the basic meat and cheese board and demonstrate the fun and easy way to create and compose these boards using a variety of ingredients. Ideal for pairs of adults and kids ages 6 to 12, attendees will be given simple, seasonal and fresh ingredients and the opportunity to create their own creative boards. While “mom & me” is the title of our class, dad & me works too! So does grandma & me – or auntie & me! You get the idea! Come take part in learning how cooking creates a sense of confidence and bonding with our children and how designing boards is equivalent to creating little works of art!
