On the heels of a more than half-million-dollar renovation, Head’s Store at The Inns at St. Albans is thrilled to open Memorial Day weekend for all-day breakfast, light lunches and weekend dinners as well as our new takeout service.

Our opening couldn’t come at a better time with the loosening of social-distancing restrictions and an abundance of overworked home chefs anxious to escape their own kitchens! We’ve also curated a special carryout menu for Mother’s Day.

The historic Head’s Store, established circa 1892 as a general store, now offers indoor and patio dining; a new community room for small-group gatherings; shopping; and catering and ready-to-eat meals out of its “KitchInn.” Exterior upgrades – including new metal roofing, siding, paint and sod to grow our greenspace – have enhanced the character and life of this storied structure.

Under the direction of Beth Ducker, Head’s Store’s new menu features a mouthwatering breakfast spread served all day, gourmet soups, salads and sandwiches. “Our signature burgers,” she notes, “are sure to put us on the map!”  

Additionally, the ever-popular chicken fingers, grilled cheese sandwiches and cheeseburgers are available to our youngest customers.

“We can’t wait to bring casual, gourmet fare at a reasonable price point to the St. Albans community as well as to those making The Inns their destination,” says owner Datra Herzog.

A soft opening of Head’s Store is set for Memorial Day weekend. Customers can preview our full menu here and choose from dine-in or carryout service between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, May 22, Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24.

On Memorial Day (Monday, May 25) itself, we are excited to offer barbecue picnic dinners for pickup between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Choose from an expansive spread of holiday favorites including a wide range of smoked meats and seafoods; tempting side dishes; and set meals packaged in a variety of portions. And don’t forget to top off your picnic spread with dessert – deep dish pies included! 

Hit the easy button for this well-deserved celebration; the difficulty will be in choosing from smoked fried chicken, baby back ribs, ribeye and our other delicious offerings!

Beginning the following Wednesday, May 27, Head’s Store will officially open for regular business hours Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

And just in time for Mother’s Day, we’re offering carryout dinners. Surprise Mom with a beef filet, smoked brisket, smoked salmon or roasted chicken dinner, and add salads, extra sides and dessert as needed. All orders are due Thursday, May 7, and to be picked up Saturday, May 9. Throw in a bottle of wine, a cookbook and silk tulip stems for a finishing touch! Our Mother’s Day menu can be found here.
