Some Scoop on Sound Bathing, Reiki and More

Not familiar with reiki or sound bathing? Always been intrigued by but too reluctant to try a barre class? Here’s a quick summary of the different activities at your disposal for Wellness Weekend at The Inns. All experience levels welcome!

Reiki with Patti Ortyl

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a subtle energy therapy that promotes relaxation and healing through the use of gentle touch. The principle behind Reiki is that our bodies are electromagnetic and energetic in nature, and this energy can be influenced in a healthy, positive way to balance the mind, body and spirit.

Reiki

Taught by Patti Ortyl, a Reiki master/teacher and psychic medium with over 20 years of experience, this class is comprised of lecture, discussion and hands-on experience. We will awaken the healer within so that you can practice Reiki on yourself and be able to do Reiki on others. Ortyl will do energy work on each student which will allow your energy vibration to become elevated and your Chakras balanced.

Pure Barre Classic Class

Pure Barre is a total-body barre workout that transforms you physically and mentally. Their musically-driven group classes focus on low-impact, high-intensity movements that strengthen and tone your body in 50 minutes or less.

Barre

During the Classic class on our itinerary for Saturday morning, you’ll get to experience Pure Barre’s proprietary technique, which is the fastest and most effective low-impact, full-body workout. For 50 minutes, you’ll be guided through a series of low-impact, high-intensity isometric movements designed to improve your flexibility while strengthening and toning your body.

Sound Bathing With Pati Pellerito

Spend a Saturday afternoon learning how sound impacts our body and mind from therapist and sound artist Pati Pellerito. Vibrational Sound Therapy is a growing field that can be experienced through simply resting your body and surrendering to the sounds. Through the use of singing bowls – beautifully handcrafted instruments that have been used for centuries for their meditative qualities of calming the mind and soothing the body – participants will experience the mystical and magical properties of these instruments that can transform tension to ease and anxiety to calm.

Sound Bowls

A licensed massage/bodywork therapist since 1994, Pellerito has been certified in sound healing since 2008. Learn more about here at www.CenterofSound.com.

Come explore the power of sound and how to bring moments of presence into your daily routine. No experience in meditation or singing bowls necessary!

Breakfast Demo with STL Veg Girl

Losing her dad to cancer then being diagnosed herself drove Caryn Dugan to understand the role food, both processed and whole alike, has on the body. An insatiable need to learn how the food we put in our body directly affects our health continues to be her quest. After reading, researching and meeting with authors, instructors and medical experts in the field of nutrition science and health, Dugan adopted a plant-based whole foods diet. She also founded the Center for Plant-Based Living.

Veggies

It’s no secret that mainly unprocessed, real food is what our body responds to and uses to develop a strong immune system to help fight off disease and chronic illnesses. Come learn more on the benefits of this lifestyle and pick up a few recipes from Dugan as she leads a hands-on breakfast demonstration at The International Choux Co., the cooking school of The Inns at St. Albans.
