Just when you think you’ve had all you can take of summer’s heat, we’re lowering the temperature at International Choux Co. for a cooking class that’ll bring some much needed relief to your table and tastebuds. Join us Thursday, August 1, as passionate locavores George and René Sackett lead us in a multi-course “Culinary Cool-Down.” Attendees gain inspiration for flavorful and accessible summer specialties while enjoying a signature cocktail and light lunch of the “coolest” recipes demonstrated in class.

Culinary Cool-Down with George and René Sackett

AT THE INNS AT ST. ALBANS

Fight summer’s sweltering heat with some cool dishes from culinary duo George and René Sackett. See how this inspiring couple puts their own spin on chilled soups, cold salads and other delicious seasonal fare sourced locally from area farmers markets. Attendees also will learn the art of making a killer Blackberry Thyme French 75 – and get to savor this refreshing creation! Lunch is included over the two-hour session. Choose from two class times – 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.

About the chefs. Culinary couple and passionate locavores, George and René Sackett enjoy creating menus and meals that feature a variety of locally produced and seasonal ingredients from farmers market vendors they have worked with over the last 15 seasons as market managers. René has over 30 years of experience as a hospitality and culinary professional teaching a variety of classes, catering, event planning and working as a personal chef. She is a former past president of the Missouri Farmers Market Association, a current member of Les Dames D’Escoffier St. Louis, and, along with George, a current member of Slow Food St. Louis and the Missouri Mycological Society. The Sacketts have fun in the kitchen, creating delicious and inspiring meals while sharing tips, tricks and news from the local St. Louis food scene.
